HS: Fall SIMA FAB 50, Oct. 18
Louisville Collegiate (Louisville, Ky.) and Walt Whitman (Bethesda, Md.) boys recorded ranking-changing wins in a week full of record-setting performances.
Collegiate advanced past longtime nemesis St. Xavier (Louisville, Ky.) in the Kentucky playoffs, avenging its lone loss and justifying a major jump in this week's SIMA FAB 50.
Meanwhile, Walt Whitman's stunning four-goal performance in the final 29 minutes to upset St. Benedict's Prep (Newark, N.J.) launched Whitman, with a host of other Mid-Atlantic teams from Maryland and Pennsylvania into higher national rankings this week.
Not to be overlooked, the girls at Glastonbury (Conn.) won for the 50th (and later 51st) straight time, setting a Connecticut state record.
Also, Xavier commit Stephen Milhoan tied a school record with a seven-goal performance in his final regular season match with St. Ignatius (Cleveland, Ohio).
BIG MOVERS: BOYS: West Chester Henderson (West Chester, Pa.). Henderson, with four NCAA Division I commits, jumps back into the Top 10, where it was early in the season. Caroline Harkins' second goal helped Hingham edge [Whitman-Hanson ma-w] (Mass.) 2-1 in a battle of nationally ranked undefeated teams last week. They tied the first metting.
