TOP STORY: For three-time defending prep school No. 1 Berkshire School, last week's matches were listed as scrimmages. For Berkshire's opponents, they were regular-season contests -- and both ended up being quite telling. Top-ranked St. Benedict's Prep (Newark, N.J.) edged Berkshire 2-1 for the second straight year. Meanwhile, Berkshire handed Haverford School (Haverford, Pa.), a 1-0 setback. The results show very little separates the nation's top prep school program and two of the top high school teams in the land. Later this week, St. Benedict's and Haverford clash in a match with national No. 1 implications.

BIG MOVERS: BOYS: Rock Bridge (Columbia, Mo.). Led by senior standout Tarnue Tyler, Rock Bridge, the state's No. 2 team, jumped from No. 34 to No. 16 this week. It helped when state No. 3 Chaminade, which already defeated Milwaukee Marquette (Wis.), pinned a loss on Jesuit (Calif.), reinforcing the strength of Missouri's top high school programs. GIRLS: Franklin (Franklin, Tenn.). This one-time national power finds itself right back in the Top 25, making a 30-spot leap from No. 50 to No. 20 this week, following a 7-0 win over Dunbar (Ky.).

NEWCOMERS: BOYS: No. 15 Mason (Mason, Ohio), No. 17 Northville (Northville, Mich.), No. 20 Chaminade (St. Louis, Mo.), No. 21 Milwaukee Marquette (Milwaukee, Wis.), No. 40 Lincoln (Portland, Ore.), No. 43 Fayetteville Academy (Fayetteville, N.C.), No. 46 Louisville Trinity (Louisville, Ky.), No. 47 Central Bucks West (Doylestown, Pa.) and No. 50 Brentwood (Brentwood, N.Y.). GIRLS: No. 30 Summit (Bend, Ore.), No. 38 Central Bucks East (Doylestown, Pa.), No. 39 Monroe-Woodbury (Central Valley, N.Y.), No. 40 Mount Notre Dame (Cincinnati, Ohio), No. 42 Mason (Mason, Ohio), No. 43 Eldorado (Albuquerque, N.M.), No. 44 Boise (Boise, Idaho), No. 45 Seattle Prep (Seattle, Wash.), No. 46 Holy Cross (Delran, N.J.), No. 47 Shenendehowa (Clifton Park, N.Y.), No. 48 Scotch Plains-Fanwood (Scotch Plains, N.J.), No. 49 Fishers (Fishers, Ind.) and No. 50 Hamilton Southeastern (Fishers, Ind.).
