HS: Fall state, region rankings, Oct. 26
The girls team at Davis (Kaysville, Utah) became the first team to lock down a regional No. 1 ranking this season.
Davis defeated Weber (Pleasant View, Utah) 1-0 in the Utah Class 5A state final to cap a 20-0 season. Davis will finish the year ranked No. 1 in the West, and Friday's title win also secures a Top 5 national ranking for this powerhouse program.
It was business as usual for the girls teams as all seven region No. 1 teams had no problem defending their positions this week.
On the boys side, it was a different story.
Losses by former region No. 1s Hinsdale Central (Hinsdale, Ill.) and Olathe East (Olathe, Kan.) opened the door for new teams at the top of the Mid-East and Midwest regions this week.
