HS: Fall state, region rankings, Oct. 30
High school seasons are coming to a close, fast and furious.
Indiana, Montana, North Carolina independent boys and Tennessee girls finished regular season play over the weekend. An additional 13 states end this week.
So far, most of the favorites have delivered.
In boys soccer, Evansville Memorial (Ind.) and Harrison (Ind.) went into the weekend ranked 1-2 in the state and they both came away with state titles. Wesleyan Christian (N.C.) was the top-ranked independent school in North Carolina, and it emerged as the independent school 3A boys champ. In Montana, Hellgate (Mont.) boys and Helena (Mont.) girls spent almost the entire season at No. 1 in their respective rankings, and both won state titles. A trio of FAB 50-ranked girls teams from Indiana and Tennessee completed undefeated seasons with state crowns - Penn (Ind.), [Germantown Houston tn-w] (Tenn.) and Baylor School (Tenn.). Penn and Houston went coast-to-coast as the state No. 1 this year.
With the frontrunners performing so well, it left little room for change at the top of the rankings. In fact, all 14 region No. 1 and No. 2 teams held their spots.
