HS: Fall state, region rankings, Sept. 14
It was a good week for the favorites as 13 of the 14 region No. 1 teams remained in the top spot. The only change at No. 1 takes place in the Mid-East boys region, where Peoria Notre Dame (Peoria, Ill.) overtakes Hinsdale Central (Hinsdale, Ill.) despite the teams tying over the weekend.
PND gets the slight edge for the time being since it defeated Chaminade (St. Louis, Mo.), which beat Milwaukee Marquette (Milwaukee, Wis.), which beat Hinsdale Central on Saturday.
The other region No. 1s remain: Glastonbury (Glastonbury, Conn.), St. Benedict's Prep (Newark, N.J.), McDonogh School (Owings Mills, Md.), St. Ignatius (Cleveland, Ohio), St. Louis University High (St. Louis, Mo.) and Jesuit (Carmichael, Calif.).
On the girls side, Glastonbury (Glastonbury, Conn.), St. Anthony's (Mellville, N.Y.), Northern Highlands (Allendale, N.J.), Medina (Medina, Ohio), Carmel (Carmel, Ind.), Eagan (Eagan, Minn.) and Maria Carrillo (Santa Rosa, Calif.) hold down the regional No. 1 positions.
