HS: Fall state, region rankings, Sept. 17
Another week, and again no changes in boys soccer regional No. 1s.
The FAB 50 Top 25 teams are finding their groove as the Top 20 teams combined for a 36-1-3 week in games against lower ranked opponents. The region No. 1s remain Brockton (Mass.), St. Benedict's Prep (N.J.), Salesianum (Del.), St. Ignatius (Ohio), Naperville North (Ill.), Blue Valley Southwest (Kan.) and Boulder (Colo.).
Such stability leaves little room for change at the top, but that wasn't the case throughout. Connecticut, Idaho, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania and West Virginia have new state No. 1s, although that does not have much affect on the Top 25.
On the girls side, Medina (Ohio) pulled off the most significant result of the week, defeating Walsh Jesuit (Ohio), ending Walsh Jesuit's 107-match home undefeated streak. The last team to beat Walsh Jesuit - at Walsh ... yep, Medina, in 2008. That result vaulted Medina from No. 4 to No. 1 in the ohio state and region rankings this week.
