HS: Fall state, region rankings, Sept. 21
It was another week of interstate rivalries, and several results helped shape this week's regional rankings.
Take for example:
* St. Benedict's Prep (Newark, N.J.) traveled to suburban Philadelphia and defeated Haverford School (Haverford, Pa.) 2-0 to reinforce its No. 1 boys ranking;
* Louisville Trinity (Louisville, Ky.) moved up in this week's boys regional rankings following a victory over Salesianum (Wilmington, Del.), which was coming off a win over St. Xavier (Louisville, Ky.);
* Jesuit (Carmichael, Calif.) slipped from the boys West No. 1 spot following a 1-1 showing in Oregon, where it defeated state No. 1 Lincoln (Portland, Ore.) after losing to state No. 4 Grant (Portland, Ore.);
* Somers (Lincolndale, N.Y.) maintained its No. 2 New York girls ranking and aided its SIMA FAB 50 cause with a 1-0 win over Immaculate Heart Academy (Township of Washington, N.J.);
* McDonogh School (Owings Mills, Md.) strengthened its case for SIMA FAB 50 No. 1 with an 8-1 thrashing of former SIMA FAB 50 Top 25-ranked Magnificat (Rocky River, Ohio).
Those were just a handful of key high school results from the past week that played a role in this week's rankings.
