HS: Fall state, region rankings, Sept. 28
Somers (Somers, N.Y.) rises to No. 1 in this week's New York state and regional girls rankings after spending the entire early part of the season at No. 2.
Somers' surge to the top is the only change at No. 1 among the 14 boys and girls regional rankings, but there is plenty of shuffling within each region this week.
Some of the key results from this past week:
* Rockhurst Jesuit (Kansas City, Mo.) boys won the Jesuit Classic in Milwaukee, Wis., beating Milwaukee Marquette (Milwaukee, Wis.) on the pair to the mixer title.
* Delbarton School (Morristown, N.J.) boys ran their perfect record -- all by shutout -- to nine with a 1-0 win over DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, Md.) to finish 2-0 in the Delbarton Invitational. Seton Hall Prep (West Orange, N.J.) and DeMatha played to a tie a day earlier.
* Lyons Township (LaGrangeville, Ill.) captured the PepsiCo Showdown boys title, edging Libertyville (Libertyville, Ill.) in overtime on Sunday.
* McDonogh School (Owings Mills, Md.) traveled to Immaculate Heart Academy (Township of Washington, N.J.) for a clash between last year's SIMA FAB 50 No. 1 and 2 girls teams. McDonogh emerged with a 2-1 overtime victory.
