Every other hour at DePaul University on Sunday, girls from PepsiCo Showdown bracket winners were doused with two-liter bottles of Pepsi.

Despite the sticky mess, it has become a desired finish for Chicagoland teams participating in the multi-week event.

St. Charles North (Ill.) took its turn in the celebration after a penalty kick shootout win over Lake Forest (Ill.) in the I Grow Chicago bracket, the top flight at the event. The match ended in a 3-3 draw before St. Charles North, undefeated and ranked among the nation's elite, survived the dreaded PKs 4-2.

St. Charles North's victory allowed the nation's top 12 spring girls teams to turn in a perfect week, combining for a 25-0 showing. In both the boys and girls state and region rankings, teams are starting to fall in line and back of the ranking with steady play. Overall, there was not much movement this week.

AROUND THE NATION: McCallie School (Tenn.) and Montgomery Bell Academy (Tenn.) played to a tie last week, leaving all three of the top private school contenders -- McCallie, MBA and Father Ryan (Tenn.) -- undefeated after playing to draws with each other. The next time these teams go head-to-head, there will be a winner, since it would be during the postseason. ... In Colorado, top-ranked Cherry Creek (Colo.) girls defeated Broomfield (Colo.) 2-0 in a match pitting TopDrawerSoccer's No. 1 vs. 2 state teams.
