HS: Spring state, region rankings, April 27
No. 1 changed hands in six spring-playing girls soccer states this week, and two were the result of state No. 1 vs. No. 2 clashes.
Broad Run (Ashburn, Va.) and [Union ok-w] (Tulsa, Okla.) -- both ranked No. 2 last week -- earned their state No. 1 rankings this week by taking out the former top-ranked squads. Broad Run handed Battlefield (Haymarket, Va.) its first defeat since 2013 in a 1-0 decision last week. Union, meanwhile, wrapped up a perfect 13-0 regular-season showing with a 4-1 win over rival Jenks (Jenks, Okla.).
Other new No. 1s for spring girls are Davis (Davis, Calif.), Divine Savior-Holy Angels (Milwaukee, Wis.), Elkhorn South (Omaha, Neb.) and Johnston (Johnston, Iowa). Davis and Divine Savior are making return visits to state No. 1 positions this week.
On the boys side, the only change at No. 1 occurred in Nebraska as Omaha South (Omaha, Neb.) regained the top ranking following a victory over Papillion-La Vista South.
