This is the week of transition.

The winter season is nearly finished. The spring season is starting.

Starting today, the spring state and regional rankings will be updated each Monday through the end of the season. The winter rankings also will be updated as usual until the end of the Texas UIL season in April. 

Arizona, Florida and Louisiana crowned state champions this past weekend, and California concluded sectional play. The major moves among winter teams include Brophy Prep (Ariz.), Boca Raton (Fla.) and St. Paul's (La.) boys all locking up state and regional No. 1 rankings for the season. Servite (Calif.) climbed to the top of the California-South regional rankings. In girls soccer, Chaparral (Ariz.) and Northshore (La.) secured their state and regional No. 1 rankings while Bartram Trail (Fla.) moved up to No. 2 in the state state and regional rankings. In California, Corona Santiago (Calif.) upended Upland (Calif.) in penalty kicks for the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 title. 

This week, the California sectional reps compete in the CIF Regional Tournaments, marking the end of the California season.

The state No. 1s this week are Brophy Prep (Ariz.), Montgomery (Calif.), Boca Raton (Fla.), Punahou (Hawaii), St. Paul's (La.), Ocean Springs (Miss.) and San Antonio LEE (Texas) for boys and Chaparral (Ariz.), Archbishop Mitty (Calif.), Montverde Academy (Fla.), Kamehameha-Kapalama (Hawaii), Northshore (La.), Gulfport (Miss.) and Flower Mound (Texas) for girls.

Since most spring states have yet to start, this week's state and regional rankings show very little change to the preseason rankings released in early February. One notable change, preseason state, region and SIMA FAB 50 boys No. 1 Dalton (Ga.) took an early season loss to leave Lambert (Ga.) at No. 1 on the state and regional level this week.
