BIG MOVERS -- BOYS: Paramount (Paramount, Calif.). A week after falling out of the Top 25 after a loss to Loyola (Los Angeles, Calif.), Paramount made a major leap to No. 8 by winning a stacked Golden State Invitational title. GIRLS: El Camino Real (Woodland Hills, Calif.). Two weeks off did El Camino Real some good -- especially in the rankings. The team jumped from No. 39 to No. 25 this week thanks to early season results that helped just the team last week. The combination that led to El Camino Real's rankings jump this week was an earlier win over Harvard-Westlake (Studio City, Calif.), which had defeated JSerra (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.), which last week knocked off previously undefeated and state No. 2 El Toro (Lake Forest, Calif.).

NEWCOMERS: BOYS: No. 9 Los Alamitos (Los Alamitos, Calif.), No. 47 Torrey Pines (San Diego, Calif.), No. 48 Mililani (Mililani, Hawaii), No. 49 [Tucson az-m] (Tucson, Ariz.) and No. 50 Oceanside (Oceanside, Calif.). GIRLS: No. 29 JSerra (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.), No. 41 Esperanza (Anaheim, Calif.), No. 42 Cathedral Catholic (San Diego, Calif.), No. 43 Chaminade (West Hills, Calif.), No. 45 Tesoro (Las Flores, Calif.). 

LOOKING AHEAD: BOYS: Texas kicks off UIL play this week and the premier showcase event is taking place at Coppell (Coppell, Texas). Coppell checks in at No. 5 this week now that the California teams have all temporarily played themselves out of the top positions. The team's event features SIMA FAB 50 No. 2 Sam Houston (Arlington, Texas). Sam Houton's showing this week, coupled with next week's trip to the Montverde Academy Soccer Tournament should give a pretty clear picture to the national frontrunners for the winter season. GIRLS: The most important girls high school winter event takes place this week in the greater Fort Worth, Texas, area -- the National Elite Prep Showcase. This year's event has 34 teams with representation from SIMA FAB 50-ranked Florida, California and Texas programs. Six of the current Top 8 teams, nine of the Top 25 and 13 of the SIMA FAB 50-ranked squads will be in action at the event.
