HS: Winter state, region rankings, Jan. 28
Nearly 400 matches were played last week by teams in the TopDrawerSoccer state and regional rankings, and there was hardly any movement.
The reason?
These ranked teams have hit their stride. In Florida, it's early in postseason as these ranked favorites generally roll over opponents. In California and Texas, teams are into league play were the ranked teams again have the upperhand. In the other four winter-playing states, the gap between the top teams and the rest of the field make it pretty routine for undefeated weeks for the ranked programs.
The only major move was an upset league loss by Bellarmine Prep (San Jose, Calif.) allows fellow NorCal power De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) to move into the California North No. 1 ranking and one spot higher to No. 5 in the California state rankings.
