A number of regions in this week's NSCAA girls regional rankings are more or less already decided at the top. That said, even more are still in the darkroom developing state championship pictures. With No. 1 regionally-ranked teams from New England, New York, New Jersey and California still in play, there's still much to be decided in girls high school soccer.

Here's a look at the stakes as we plunge deeper into the postseason.

Region I

The top of Region I this week is almost unrecognizable from the week before for the first time all year. Exeter was dealt a shock 1-0 loss in the state championship game by Bedford to snap a 42-game winning streak. It was the third girls winning streak of at least 40 games to break this year, and it dropped Exeter to No. 11 and paved the way for Newton North, which will soon play for the Massachusetts Division 1 title, to go top. Top five sides Bow (New Hampshire), Champlain Valley Union (Vermont) and Windham (Maine) all recently captured their respective state titles.

1. Newton North (Newton, Mass.)

2. Bow (Bow, N.H.)

3. Champlain Valley Union (Hinesburg, Vt.)

Northern Highlands stretched its unbeaten run to 67 in the state playoffs last week. So while the program made have drawn a game for the first time since 2010 earlier this season against No. 6 Montclair, a loss is a different beast entirely. In Pennsylvania, Neshaminy is cobbling together an incredible 24-0-0 run and will play for the Class AAA state title on Saturday against Spring-Ford, which stunned former No. 2 Cumberland Valley in the other semifinal. Can they make it a clean 25-0-0?
