Ronnie Comeau, a senior goalkeeper from Union High School (Tulsa, Okla.), and Alani Johnson, a senior midfielder from Cape Henry Collegiate School (Virginia Beach, Va.), are the NSCAA/TopDrawerSoccer.com High School Players of the Week.

Comeau patiently bided his time on Union’s talented bench over the years, but he’s made good work out of his chance between the pipes for the Class 6A juggernaut. Last week was proof his time between the pipes was worth the wait. The No. 4 Redskins took on state No. 3 Jenks last week with the District 6A-4 championship on the line, and Comeau stood on his head to keep Jenks from finding the back of the net. He made 14 saves, 10 of which came in the second half against a Jenks side that owned the possession battle. As a result, Union won the district title with its 6-1 league record.

The Cape Henry girls team is off to a roaring 11-0 start, and Johnson’s play in the middle of the field has been the biggest contributing factor. In two wins this week, Johnson scored seven goals and assisted on one more to crest the 100 career goals mark with Cape Henry. The Virginia Tech commit is up to 23 goals and three assists this season, and she’s currently attempting to lead Cape Henry back to the VISAA state title game for the second season in a row.

Other boys finalists include Matt Szucs (Midlothian High School, Midlothian, Va.) and Christian Thode (Archbishop Murphy High School, Everett, Wash.). Other girls finalists include CeCe Kizer (Blue Valley Northwest High School, Overland Park, Kan.) and Hannah Cole (Buffalo Grove High School, Buffalo Grove, Ill.).

The NSCAA/TopDrawerSoccer.com High School Player of the Week honor is designed to highlight a selection of the nation's rising stars populating the high school ranks. Coaches are free to nominate a boys or girls player each week through our submission form that can be found here. Be sure to include the school and any relevant stats from the previous week. The selection process will take into account a slew of factors from contribution to team results to individual accolades. Honorees are announced each Wednesday.

The next submission deadline will be noon (CT) on May 5 before the Player of the Week announcement on May 7.
