Postseason ups ante on top girls teams
The season is down to the nuts and bolts of postseason play for much of the country, which has intensified the stakes and added an extra layer of vulnerability to the nation's top teams. So it's commendable that all six No. 1 teams have avoided upsets now for two weeks running and have yet to yield their top regional spots.
Here's a look at the rest of this week's NSCAA regional rankings for girls soccer.

Region I
Exeter is still hammering away on its ballooning winning streak, which is now at 40, the second-best girls streak in the nation. At 16-0-0, there hasn't been a better team in New England this fall, and according to the national polls (Exeter is No. 1 there too) there isn't a better girls team in the nation either. It'll take a 19-0-0 season to polish another unbeaten run. Central Catholic (17-0-0) and Champlain Valley Union (16-0-0) are working on winning streaks of their own.
