This past weekend, on December 6 and 7, the Soccer Institute at Montverde Academy (SIMA) hosted their Fifth Annual SIMA College Showcase, welcoming college and university coaches from across the country.

On Friday night, the SIMA College Showcase was hosted at the National Training Center with two games at 7:00 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. SIMA student-athletes saw a packed house with over 75 college coaches attending that night. Saturday night games were played at the Montverde Academy Athletic Complex at 8:00 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. and hosted more coaches.

With the current talent in college soccer across the country coming from SIMA alumni, many coaches look to scout eligible SIMA players with the hopes of boosting next season’s rosters. Coaches from across divisions had the opportunity to assess four teams of SIMA college hopefuls.

A total of approximately 95 college, university, and professional coaches were in attendance over the two-day event representing nearly 60 institutions making this Showcase the most successful one to date.

Coaches from several collegiate programs who boast top SIMA alumni were in attendance including Wake Forest University, Clemson, University of Pittsburgh, University of Louisville, UNC Charlotte, Virginia Commonwealth University, University of Central Florida, University of San Francisco, Appalachian State University, and more. There were also other top schools in attendance hoping to snag SIMA talent for the first time. See below for a full list of colleges in attendance at the 2019 SIMA College Showcase.

“Having the opportunity to host so many coaches on campus to scout our young men is something that continues to drive this program,” said SIMA Director Mike Potempa. “This Showcase is the final step in the development for our SIMA student-athletes before they head off to other teams and programs and we are thrilled to be able to welcome so many coaches to campus to evaluate their talent.”
