The fall season includes the following states: California (fall), Colorado, Connecticut, D.C., Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Virginia (private), West Virginia, Wisconsin. The rankings are compiled by high school rankings editor Sheldon Shealer.

John Antunes and Fabio DeSousa each scored twice in St. Benedict's 5-0 win over Beacon (N.Y.). The Gray Bees followed that result with a 3-0 win over Bridgton Academy (Maine), a program of post-grad players.

Maryland commit Connor Smith scored twice and assisted on another goal as McDonogh rolled to a 4-0 season-opening win over Archbishop Spalding.

St. Anthony's started the season with a 4-1 win over Notre Dame (N.J.) last week.

Jack Berger was the team's offensive star last week, scoring two goals and assisting on two in Avon's two wins.

Graham Honig delivered the match-winning goal as Jesuit edged region-ranked Marin Academy 1-0 in a battle of California section title contenders.

Washington Township starts regular-season play Thursday against Cherokee.
7 (7) Haverford School Haverford, PA 2-0-0
Haverford School's only scheduled match last week was postponed due to weather. This week, the squad takes on up-and-coming Shipley School.
8 (8) Scotch Plains-Fanwood Scotch Plains, NJ 1-0-0
Senior midfielder Zack Lipshitz scored twice as Scotch Plains started the season with a 4-0 win over Union. The lost Division I prospect Jassiem Wahtuse for a few weeks after he sustained a broken toe in the match, according to the team's coach. Scotch Plains held a 2-0 lead against South Plainfield last week, before the match was halted after 25 minutes due to weather. Since the match did not reach halftime, it is not considered a completed match.

Ever Torres scored a goal and assisted on two as Brentwood opened the season with a 4-0 win over Bay Shore.

Taylor Ortiz scored the game-winning goal 30 seconds into overtime as St. Charles East upended Lyons 2-1 to win the New Trier Invitational. St. Charles East forced overtime by scoring a match-tying goal with a minute left in regulation. Christian Memije assisted on both goals.

Chaminade defeated Milwaukee Marguette (Wis.) and St. Viator (Ill.) in a mixer event hosted by Peoria Notre Dame (Ill.). Jake Pesek and Kenny Massa scored in the 2-1 win over Marquette. Mike Barlow and Ryan Ebert scored in a 2-0 win over St. Viator.

Despite being a 2A private school, Fayetteville Academy has proven results, including as 3-0 win over Charlotte Country Day, which played 3A private school frontrunner Wesleyan Christian to a 3-2 contest. Fayetteville Academy's schedule does not include many serious challenges until it faces Greensboro Day School in early October.

Seton Hall Prep was scheduled to face Columbia in the team's season opener Monday. At the match, the teams are going to honor former Columbia coach Gene Chyzowich, one of the nation's all-time winningest high school coaches who passed away in May.
