FAB 50 High School Soccer Team Rankings

The boys fall high school season includes the following states: Colorado, Connecticut, D.C., Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Virginia (fall only), West Virginia, Wisconsin.

The rankings are compiled by high school rankings editor Sheldon Shealer.

Celio Pompeu served up a pair of assists to jumpstart St. Benedict's 3-1 win over FAB 50 No. 9 St. Ignatius in a battle of high school national powers. Julian Gomez, Israel Neto and Henrique Cruz scored as the Gray Bees opened up a 3-0 lead before St. Ignatius scored with 14 minutes left in the match.

Tommy Welch made a pair of saves as Naperville North edged FAB 50 No. 12 Marquette (Wis.) in a shootout at the Go 4 the Goal Fall Classic's top flight, the adidas Bracket. The Huskies also defeated Cherry Creek (Colo.) and FAB 50 No. 11 Peoria Notre Dame at the event.

Nathan Barry scored the lone goal as Trinity edged FAB 50 No. 10 St. Xavier 1-0 in a clash of Kentucky powers last week.

Yaya Bakayoko scored twice and had an assist as MLK used a strong second half to pull away from Columbus St. Francis De Sales (Ohio), the reigning Ohio Division II state champion.

St. Ignatius split its matches during a New Jersey-New York trip last week, losing to top-ranked St. Benedict's (N.J.) 3-1 after falling behind 3-0 in the first half, and then defeating Chaminade (N.Y.) 3-1 the next day.

St. Xavier's undefeated run ended at 32 matches in a 1-0 setback to FAB 50 No. 4 Trinity. The Tigers were 31-0-1 in their last 32 outings.

Peoria Notre Dame went 1-2 at the Go 4 the Goal Fall Classic, beating Rockhurst Jesuit (Mo.) before falling to FAB 50 No. 2 Naperville North and Gateway Legacy, which will make its Prep Top 10 debut this week.

Marquette proved to be the come-back crew at the Go 4 the Goal Fall Classic, until the championship match. The Hilltoppers rallied for a 4-3 OT win over Salesianum (Del.), just when it appeared the Delaware power was going to win with a minute remaining in regulation. In the semifinals, the Hilltoppers bounced back from a 2-0 deficit to force PKs where it topped FAB 50 No. 15 Morton (Ill.). In the final, Marquette again went to PKs before falling to FAB 50 No. 2 Naperville North (Ill.)

Salesianum held a 3-2 lead over Marquette (Wis.) in the final minute of regulation before allowing a goal that led to a 4-3 OT setback at the Go 4 the Goal Fall Classic. The Sallies bounced back with wins over Blue Valley Southwest (Kan.) and Cherry Creek (Colo.). This week Salesianum clashes with top-ranked St. Benedict's (N.J.).

Central Catholic kicked off the season with a 3-2 win over perennial title contender Jesuit and has never looked back. The Rams have shut out their last four opponents during an eight-win streak to start the season.

Sajji Singh and Myles Ellis scored the goals as Fairview upended previous FAB 50 Top 25-ranked Boulder 2-1 last week. Fairview entered the week in the regional rankings, but that result jumped them into the Top 25 this week.

CBA edged Freehold Borough and Ocean Township last week. The team's only loss is a 3-1 setback to top-ranked St. Benedict's Prep. The squad also has a 4-1 win over Chaminade (N.Y.).
