Rank School Record
1 McDonogh School Owings Mills, MD 0-0-0
A lineup with what projects to be double-digit Division I signees and a blockbuster schedule make McDonogh an easy choice to start the season No. 1. After all, if the team goes undefeated after playing the likes of No. 5 St. Anthony's (N.Y.), No. 6 Strongsville (Ohio), No. 9 Episcopal Academy (Pa.), No. 25 Good Counsel, No. 28 Cumberland Valley (Pa.), No. 36 Pennington (N.J.) and No. 40 Spalding, it would be impossible to argue against it for the No. 1 ranking. Among the key players for McDonogh are Tennessee-bound Lily McCarthy, Bucknell commit Kallista Wethern, Baylee DeSmit, Kelsey Smith, Aria Bilal and Alayna Lynchard.
2 Portland Jesuit Portland, OR 0-0-0
Last year's FAB 50 No. 1 team is primed for another run at the top. The Crusaders have seven returning starters from last year's squad, including goalkeeper Mary Votava, a Notre Dame commit, and Washington-bound Callan Harrington. Army commit Jaiden McClellan will play a key role, as well. Goalkeeper Olivia Juarez, who is committed to Washington, will share some of the workload with Votava. Jesuit is riding a 38-match win streak where it has outscored its opponents by a staggering 214-3 margin.
3 Eastern Voorhees, NJ 0-0-0
Eastern had a breakout season in 2018 and with most of the key players back could be in the running for a FAB 50 national title, as well. La Salle commit Kelli McGroarty returns following a 37-goal junior season where she was named the NJ.com Player of the Year. Forward and Rutgers commit Riley Tiernan, who scored 21 goals, and Rutgers commit Sara Brocious also are among the key returners. All three were first- or second-team all-state picks in 2018.
4 Beavercreek Beavercreek, OH 0-0-0
Beavercreek had a breakthrough year in 2018, earning a state title and the highest-ever FAB 50 ranking for the program. The Beavers figure to be just as strong in 2019 with Dayton commit Diana Benigno and Mississippi State commit Marcella Cash leading the way.
5 St. Anthony's Melville, NY 0-0-0
Virginia commit Brianna Jablonowski highlights the returners for this perennial Catholic League power. Jablonowski netted 20 goals last year as St. Anthony's went 17-0 and finished No. 2 in the FAB 50. Coach Sue Alber has a five-year coaching record of 70-2-3. This year's team will play host to top-ranked McDonogh (Md.) and No. 6 Strongsville in October.
6 Strongsville Strongsville, OH 0-0-0
If Strongsville can sure up the defense, the Mustangs could very well find themselves in the FAB 50 No. 1 title chase. Strongsville will be taking on top-ranked McDonogh (Md.) and No. 5 St. Anthony's (N.Y.) this season during a trip to New York. The Mustangs lineup includes Memphis commit Peyton Felton, scoring phenom Shelby Sallee and Ohio State commit Nicole Sidloski, Sallee, Miami (Ohio) commit Sarah Robertson and Cleveland State commit Madison Snyder were all part of the Cleveland FC 02 team that won the US Youth Soccer Under-17 national title this past summer.
7 Ramapo Franklin Lakes, NJ 0-0-0
When it comes to recruiting talent, Ramapo appears to led the pack. This year's team is expected to have Duke commit Nicole Chico, North Carolina commit Emerson Elgin and Villanova commit Mary Clare Langan leading the way. With a coaching turnover and a lot of graduation hitting rival Northern Highlands, Ramapo appears primed to re-emerge as the local power.
8 Noblesville Noblesville, IN 0-0-0
Noblesville has one of the stingiest defenses around, and that could carry them to a deep run in the playoffs. This year's Noblesville squad features Purdue-bound keeper Sara Kyle, defender Jensen Summers, who has committed to Valparaiso, midfielder Jenna Chatterton and senior forward Carly Hudnall. Chatterton was committed but has re-opened her recruiting. Sydney Anderson and keeper Makenna Mundy also are expected to commit soon.
9 Gig Harbor Gig Harbor, WA 0-0-0
With Washington State commit Alyssa Gray, midfielder Jaylynn Barton and keeper Clare Bosselman, Gig Harbor is primed for another state title run in Washington. All three earned all-state honors last year as underclass players.
10 Episcopal Academy Newtown Square, PA 0-0-0
Episcopal Academy had high expectations in 2018, but a rough start the season banished them from the rankings. Still, EA put it all together for a Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association state title. EA returns William & Mary commit Raina Kuzemka, Old Dominion commit Laila Payton and Lafayette commit Lauren Cunningham. Other standouts include Ali McHugh (Notre Dame lacrosse commit) and Devon Whitaker (Virginia lacrosse commit).
11 Bishop Gorman Las Vegas, NV 0-0-0
Bishop Gorman had a magical run in 2018, becoming the highest-ranked Nevada team in the 20-year history of the FAB 50 rankings. While several of the key players have graduated, Gorman remains the school where most of the local girls soccer talent tends to congregate. The top returners include Brown commit Camden Berry and midfielder Jaden Terrana.
12 Shawnee Medford, NJ 0-0-0
East Carolina commit Kiley Endres and all-state honoree Alexa Endres, Kiley's sister, are back to lead a solid Shawnee program.
13 Twinsburg Twinsburg, OH 0-0-0
Allison King was the Akron Best of Preps Player of the Year for 2018, and she returns to lead a Twinsburg squad that has been a constant in the FAB 50 rankings in recent years.
14 Glastonbury Glastonbury, CT 0-0-0
Glastonbury has been a state power the past decade, but took a back seat in the Class LL race the past two seasons. This year, the Tomahawks return to the role of preseason favorite led by UConn commit Chloe Landers. The defensive standout was the Hartford Courant Player of the Year.
15 Medina Medina, OH 0-0-0
Medina had a coaching change in the offseason, but should not miss a beat as the longtime assistant simply stepped into the head coaching role. The Bees have been one of the most successful fall programs over the past five years, and will depend on Miami (Ohio) commit Haley Anspach, Xavier commit Tori Lyncha, Riley Kerber, Megan Heath and St. Francis (Pa.) commit Claire Miko to lead the way.
16 Hunterdon Central Flemington, NJ 0-0-0
South Carolina commit Corinna Zullo is expected back for Hunterdon Central, which had a breakout season a few years ago with Zullo's older sister. The team also features Rutgers commit Emily Mason, who was a second-team all-state pick in 20-18.
17 Evansville Memorial Evansville, IN 0-0-0
Led by the Courier & Press Co-Player of the Year Isabel Alexander, Evansville Memorial appears primed for a high ranking in Indiana. The Tigers bring back three All-Metro first-team picks, which includes Annah Hopkins, who earned all-state honors.
18 Carmel Carmel, IN 0-0-0
The defending state champs always seems to be able to reload. The team expects the return of forward Kelsie James, a Valparaiso commitment. Carmel will compete early in the Zionsville Lady Eagle Invitational, which is often a showcase for top fall teams in the Midwest.
19 Houston Germantown, TN 0-0-0
Tennessee commit Madeline Eskin, who scored 19 goals and had 10 assists last season, is back to lead Houston. While graduation has taken a toll on this program in recent years, the Mustangs remain a title contender every year.
20 Lone Peak Highland, UT 0-0-0
Lone Peak features three first-team all-state returners: keeper McKayla Wetsel, who is committed to Idaho State, midfielder Nicole Ray, last year's 6A MVP, and defender Addy Symonds.
21 Monroe-Woodbury Central Valley, NY 0-0-0
First-team all-state forward Kaelyn Salatto is returning for the New York Class AA defending state champs. Also back are Liz Allen and Angela Fini. The Crusaders figure to make another run deep into the playoffs but will have to contend with fellow local power and FAB 50-ranked Arlington.
22 Winchester Winchester, MA 0-0-0
With Boston Globe Division 2 Player of the Year Hannah Curtin leading the returnees, Winchester is given a slight preseason edge in Massachusetts. Curtin scored 25 goals last season as Winchester went 22-1 en route to a state title.
23 Sacred Heart Academy Louisville, KY 0-0-0
Sacred Heart had a banner season in 2018, earning a lofty FAB 50 final ranking. The senior-heavy squad has moved on, yet the program remains on solid footing. The key returner is Murray State commit Camille Barber.
24 Walsh Jesuit Cuyahoga Falls, OH 0-0-0
Xavier commit Morgan Pentz is among the top returners for a Walsh Jesuit program that has spent most of the last 15 years ranked in the FAB 50. The Warriors will face FAB 50-ranked Medina on Sept. 14.
25 Good Counsel Olney, MD 0-0-0
Good Counsel will find its place early in the season thanks to a clash with top-ranked McDonogh on Sept. 3. The Falcons have been the class of the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference for the better part of two decades. This year's team has returning all-state performer Anna Young.
