Move over – Bikkemberg has something new
May 4, 2010
Take a bow Dirk Bikkembergs, you deserve a round of applause.
Rarely do we see a new boot that stops us in our tracks for the right reasons. Bikkembergs, a fashion designer who began foraying into the world of soccer cleats, has introduced a new offering that’s striking and completely different.
The Capitano in action.Check out the new Capitano, a boot that is uniquely its own.
With its clean and simple, but eye-catching look, it’s obvious that you’re not looking at another major brand name prototype.
This shoe screams Italian craftsmanship and flair but still appears to hold up its end of the bargain on the performance side.
The Capitano is a third generation boot, following the Bix and the Tirosegno, which is the first Bikkemberg to be fitted with a split outsole divided into the forefront and the heel. These two parts offer stability as well as flexibility.
The upper is a water-repellent micro-fiber that makes for a soft and light gripping boot with good ball control.
Now, let’s get to the style points.
You’ll notice the signature feature: the strap that runs around the boot and is obviously inspired by a captain’s armband – hence the title. This gives the shoe its identity and looks great in both color combos: the yellow band on the black shoe or the red band on the white.
There is little info available on the availability of the Capitanos but they’re expected to be released sometime this summer.
