UCF campers often become program players
March 3, 2011
Call it the college soccer placement test.
The University of Central Florida(m) Elite Boys’ College ID Camp is a sure way to find out exactly where you fit in as a college soccer player. By the time you leave this four-day camp experience you’ll be equipped with the information you need to choose the best road for your career at the next level.
“We give our campers the most realistic experience of what it is to be a student athlete at UCF – so they’ll know whether the coaching style, philosophy and environment is a good fit,” said men’s coach Bryan Cunningham. “It’s a two-way street. We want to evaluate and get to know players but we want them to get to know us as well.”
Taking place July 28-31, this annual event is open to rising sophomores through senior players. It all unfolds on the wonderful UCF campus in picturesque Orlando, Florida – a vacation playground.
But there’s more to offer than scenery and leisure on this trip to the Sunshine State. The College ID Camp is a simulation of the UCF program and all that makes it a highly successful Conference USA contender.
Players will stay in dorms, eat in the school’s dining facility and experience competitive college level training: from technical and positional work to 11v11 scrimmages.
This soccer extravaganza will be capped at around 150 players, allowing the staff to truly work with players on a personal level – through video work and demonstration.
“It’s important to create an environment where I know every kid’s name by the end of the week,” Cunningham said. “We get one to two players each year on our team from this camp so it’s a valuable tool for us and we want to put players in the best possible environment that allows them to experience UCF.”
