2017 Girls Regional Rankings update

TopDrawerSoccer.com talks a lot about the outstanding youth players in the IMG Academy 150, but there are hundreds of others in each age group that deserve recognition as well. So, each Friday following the Monday release of an IMG Academy 150 update, we highlight eleven of the regionally ranked players from around the country for that class.

Charli Pogany, Goalkeeper, IMG Academy – Earned a spot on the Best XI at the TDS Tampa Combine in January for her strength in goal.

Mackenzie Kincaid, Goalkeeper, Indiana Fire – A member of Hoosier FC until the 2014-15 season, Kincaid earned the starting spot with Indiana Fire U16s that top the ECNL Ohio Valley Division. The Dayton recruit has six shutouts on the year and only 13 goals against in conference action for the playoff-bound Fire.

Lorna MacFarlane, Defender, Continental FC Delco – An id2 participant in 2013 and a consistent US Soccer National Training Center invitee, MacFarlane is a top defender on FC Delco’s U16 ECNL squad.

Ashley Thomas, Defender, GSA – A center back with two goals to her credit on GSA’s playoff-bound U16 ECNL team, Thomas is a member of Georgia ODP and has been invited to the 2015 Puma Elite Women’s Showcase.

Astrid Souto, Defender, Dallas Sting – Souto is a Best XI alumna of the TDS Dallas Combine last fall where she earned high marks for her ability in the air, her athleticism, and her speed in the back. She plays her club ball for Sting’s U15 ECNL that just missed qualifying for a spot in the 2015 playoffs.

Emily Stranne, Midfielder/Defender, McLean Youth Soccer – A wide player for coach Cindi Harkes’ U16s, Stranne has five goals in 15 matches for McLean in the 2014-15 season, nearly half of the team’s total for the year. Three of her five goals came on a national stage, two at the ECNL showcase in New Jersey, and the other in Florida in December.

Naomi Powell, Midfielder, Orlando City FC – Powell was originally recommended last year for her role as a central midfielder on North Carolina Fusion’s U15 team, but moved to Orlando City for the 2014-15 season. Powell attended ODP national camp in 2013 and 2014 and was a member of the USYS Region III ODP team.

Emily Holten, Midfielder, St. Louis Scott Gallagher Metro – Holten is the bright spot for a struggling SLSG Metro squad, accruing the most minutes on the team, and taking on any role her coaches ask of her. She is verbally committed to Mississippi.

Riley Bowers, Midfielder, Buffalo Soccer Academy – Bowers is a technical, attacking midfielder for the USYS New York-W state champs. A member of the 99 ODP Region I team, she also competed at the 2015 ODP National Championships as part of the New York West 99 ODP team. She has verbally committed to Ohio State.

Lauren Long, Midfielder/Forward, Eclipse Select – Long earned recognition by TopDrawerSoccer.com last year for her performance with her previous team, NSA at the Blue Chip Showcase, and has continued to perform well this season with Eclipse Select, helping her team to a second place finish in the ECNL Midwest Conference, earning a playoff spot. Long has given her verbal to Michigan.

Aubree Incardone, Forward, SC Del Sol – Incardone plays on SC Del Sol’s U17 ECNL team, is an ECNL PDP event participant, and has verbally committed to Arizona State.
