Only a couple of weeks remain until players report for season. The Division I men’s campaign is just under a month from starting.

That means the bulk of kids listed below are going to make it on campus for the 2023 season, and the top classes in men’s DI soccer continues to become clear.

Below is a rundown of the Top 45 recruiting classes.

Please send any commitments or corrections to editor@topdrawersoccer.com.

1. Saint Louis (1)

Commitments: D Carlos Leatherman (Minnesota United FC – No. 63), F Marcos Moore (Rise SC – No. 75), D Cole Dougherty (Solar SC – No. 80), M Jack Sullivan (Colorado Rapids – No. 124), F Tanner Anderson (St. Louis Scott Gallagher – No. 181), M Axel Torres (Rise SC)

Transfers: D Galen Flynn (Fordham), F Matt Wrobel (St. Bonaventure), D Lawson Redmon (Indiana), M Diego Konincks (Campbell)

It’s an extremely strong class up and down the field for SLU. Moore was the United Soccer Coaches club player of the year and is arguably the top striker in the class.

2. Portland (2)

Commitments: F Diego Rosas (Houston Dynamo – No. 52), D Angel Martinez (Pac Northwest SC – No. 71), F Nicholas Dunbar (LA Galaxy – No. 86), M Efetobo Aror (Barca Academy – No. 100), M William Cornog (Solar SC), GK Drew Hartman (D.C. United), F Joe Highfield (Minnesota Thunder Academy), M Morgan Olson (Minnesota United FC)

Transfers: F Micaah Garnette (St. John’s), F Tim Ennin (Northeastern), M Wylie Trujillo (Gonzaga), M Jesus Salazar (Mount St. Mary’s), M Boyd Curry (St. Mary’s (CA)), F Samory Powder (Detroit Mercy)

A blend of top incoming talent and transfer additions should add to Portland’s high level. It was a great season for the Pilots in 2022 that saw them go on a lengthy tournament run. Aror is a huge add to the team’s spine.

3. UCLA* (4)

Commitments: D Mateo Pinilla (Houston Dynamo – No. 30), GK Wyatt Nelson (Seattle Sounders – No. 43), F Jacob Diaz (LAFC), D Philip Naef (BSC Young Boys), F Samuel Scott (Solar SC), D Tre Wright (Capital City SC)

Transfers: M Ryan Becher (UMBC), F Oshea Foster (San Diego), M Sean Karani (Temple), F Jack Sarkos (Lehigh), D Owen Schwartz (Brown)

A flurry of transfer adds and a player with Naef’s resume makes for an impressive class on paper. Nelson should step in as the starter right away, with the transfer experiences has plenty of potential.
