Below are Numbers 21 through 30 in this year's Top 50 countdown.
30. Chris Applewhite – CB – Nashville SC
DOB: 8/23/2007 | HT: 6-2 | WT: 182 | Last Year’s Ranking: N/A
Another example of an out-of-market player recruited and moving into the pro pathway, Applewhite has a very intriguing upside. A tall, athletic, ball-playing center back, he is on the shortlist players with a European ceiling on this list. So why is he so low here? That’s down in part to Nashville’s lack of success in bringing players through to the first team. The sample size is obviously small, and only a few players have earned a Homegrown deal at the club. It’s hard to know if or when a 17-year-old central defender will get a chance.
