The 2026 edition of MLS NEXT Cup wrapped up over the weekend, with six age groups finishing the 2025-26 club season.
Both the Homegrown Division and Academy Division crowned champions in Utah, rounding out the boys league campaign.
Columbus Crew earned the Homegrown Division title in the oldest age group thanks to a penalty shootout win. Up a man against St. Louis City, Immanuel Ewing put the Crew up 1-0 in the 69th minute. However, defender Stone Marion scored to tie the game five minutes later, eventually sending it to spot kicks where the Crew triumphed 3-1.
A shootout was also required in the Under-17 final. Orlando City Seminole, a talented 09 team, matched up against Atlanta United in the final. After going down a goal in the first minute due to an own goal, Atlanta jumped on top by a 2-1 margin thanks to a Seyi Fakiyesi brace. Kingston Ricketts equalized just over 10 minutes to go in the second half, and the Florida squad converted four of five penalties to triumph.
Aaron Sanchez scored the decisive goal in Total Futbol Academy’s wild, 4-3 win against Barca Residency Academy in the Under-16 title match. The second half featured six of the seven goals after Arman Alagha put Barca up 1-0 in the third minute. TFA scored three unanswered goals early in the second half, Norvin Crespin adding one and Daniel Carmona tallying twice. Damian Quinonez and Ethan O'Neil rallied Barca to honors even before Sanchez won it late.
New Jersey side Cedar Stars Academy-Bergen won the Under-15 age group thanks to a Derek Aguilar goal. That was enough in a 1-0 win against City SC San Diego.
After three straight U.S. Youth Soccer National titles, Utah Celtic captured the Under-19 Academy Division with a 5-0 win over St. Louis DA.
The Under-13 and Under-14 teams wrapped up their seasons with the Premier and Championship tournaments as well.
