Former U.S. national team player and U14/U15 USYNT head coach Hugo Perez is set to take the reins of the Alianza de Futbol All Star team.

A free open tryout program hosted in 10 cities, Alianza de Futbol will field a U14 team that will compete at this year’s ICC Futures Cup, slated to be held in December 2019 at IMG Academy.

In his role as the U14 All-Star team coach, Perez will travel around to each tryout and select a team of 18 players to compete in the second edition of the tournament.

“I am very happy to lead this Alianza All-Star Team of Hispanic players that will compete against the best U14 clubs in the world,” Perez said in a press release “I share the same values as Alianza de Futbol, providing opportunities to young Hispanic players to showcase their great talent.”

The Allstate Sueno Alianza is a free open tryout program, and the U14 team is a new feature set to be introduced in 2019.

“The addition of Hugo Pérez to Alianza de Futbol is a big deal to the Hispanic community in the United States,” Joaquin Escoto, Managing Partner of BRC Group (the owner of Alianza de Futbol), said in a statement. “His resume as national team player and U.S. youth national team coach as well as his experience in talent identification and training some of the top young players born in the US makes him truly unique. We’re proud to partner with him.”

In addition to his role as All-Star Team coach, Perez will participate in the Alianza Coaching Clinics, which is the largest program in the country curated exclusively for Hispanic coaches.

Perez, a member of the U.S. national team and the 1994 World Cup squad, has played professionally in USA, France, Sweden, Saudi Arabia and El Salvador. He’s worked with a number of current U.S. internationals, including Christian Pulisic and Tyler Adams, and helped identify Mexican international Jonathan Gonzalez, an alumnus of the 2013 Allstate Sueno Alianza program.
