Reyna scores first goal for BVB
Giovanni Reyna is off the mark in Europe.
The former New York City FC Academy stalwart's strong 2020 continued on Tuesday, as Reyna scored his first goal for Borussia Dortmund in a competitive match.
The No. 1 player in the 2021 Boys IMG Academy Top 150 Rankings found the upper corner from outside the penalty area, after dancing around a trio of Werder Bremen defenders (U.S. counterpart Josh Sargent was on the winning side for Bremen). BVB were unable to win the match however, falling 3-2 in the DFB Pokal (German Cup). The goal put Reyna in the history books of German soccer as well.
Eligible to play for the Under-20 or Under-23 Men's National Teams, Reyna could be in line for a full team call-up, as the USMNT has a pair of friendlies scheduled for March.
