Standouts from the U.S. U15 BNT camp
The U.S. U15 Boys National Team wrapped up its August camp on Saturday at the National Training Center in Southern California. The weeklong camp featured five scrimmages against a variety of opponents as the national team scouting network took a long look at the 1999 age group, which is moving to the U16 Boys National Team moniker, and also a preliminary glance at the 2000 age group for the 2017 U17 World Cup cycle.
“We saw [the 2000s] at the Showcase,” U.S. U15 Boys National Team head coach Hugo Perez told TopDrawerSoccer about calling in the five 2000s to this camp. “We felt that some of those kids had the potential to be this group. It is good to bring them in little by little and see how they do. It gives them extra time to prepare. Their cycle is the next World Cup cycle, but if they get their feet wet with our age, they are ahead a year. There are a couple of them that U.S. Soccer should take a look at to leave with the 99s.”
A handful of players made a strong case for earning another look with this squad for future events during those scrimmages on Saturday.
