So Cal Blues’ Greg Baker and Texans SC Houston’s Eric Quill are the 2016-2017 TopDrawerSoccer Club Coaches of the Year, as presented by TeamSnap. The duo earned the inaugural honor after leading their respective teams and clubs to memorable seasons at the highest level of youth soccer in the United States.

Greg Baker, and his brother Matt, coaches the So Cal Blues U15 and U16 teams to undefeated seasons in the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL), the top league for girls club soccer in the United States. Over 40 games in conference play, the Blues U15 and U16 teams combined for a perfect 40-0 record with 194 goals scored and only 23 conceded. The U15 Blues squad went on to capture the 2016-2017 ECNL National Championship in San Diego in July. Greg Baker is the 2016/2017 TopDrawerSoccer Girls Club Soccer Coach of the Year, presented by TeamSnap.

FC Dallas’ Matt Grubb, Michigan Hawks’ Derek Williford, and Cincinnati United Premier’s Bobby Puppione were also nominated for the award, which was voted on by club directors as well as the staff at TopDrawerSoccer.

Eric Quill led the Texans SC Houston U18 squad to a magical run through the U.S. Soccer Development Academy playoffs during the 2016-2017 postseason. The Texans SC Houston became the second non-MLS academy to win the National Championship since 2011. Quill’s squad featured a number of bright performances from individuals, but it was the collective whole that allowed the group to reach unparalleled heights for the club. Atlanta United’s Tony Annan, FC Dallas’ Luchi Gonzalez, and LA Galaxy’s Brian Kleiban were also nominated for the honor.
