Two goals from LA Galaxy Academy players helped propel the U.S. U15 to a 2-0 win against Saudi Arabia at the Concacaf Championship.
Ikenna Chidebe scored the first-half opener and Vicente Garcia added the second goal after the break to begin the competition with a win.
Saudi Arabia had a man sent off after the second goal, and while the United States was unable to score again, they cruised to a comfortable win in the 70-minute affair.
Chidebe provided a sizzling finish for the opener 11 minutes into the match. A low cross from Alexander Hernandez across the box was met by a first-time finish by Chidebe near the penalty spot.
A good save by Jason Nemo from a Saudi Arabia chance kept them off the score sheet, and Hernandez helped engineer a second. In the 45th minute, Chidebe hit an early cross towards the right wing. Garcia continued his run in behind the back line, and Hernandez hit a first-time pass that Garcia was able to bundle into the back of the net.
Next up for the United States is a group match on Wednesday against Costa Rica.
U.S. Lineup: Jason Nemo, Jeremiah Alexander-Munoz, Owen Jorgensen, Christopher Guillen-Lopez, Justus Jones; Christopher Morales, Vicente Garcia, Robert Turdean, Ikenna Chidebe, Timoni Gbalajobi, Alexander Hernandez
