Last week the U17 Women’s National Team missed out on World Cup qualifying, enduring a heartbreaking shootout defeat at the hands of Mexico.
Seeing youth national teams fail to qualify for prominent World Cup competitions is not a new trend, however.
Since 2010, the U.S. Soccer Federation has seen the U17 WNT fail to qualify twice for a World Cup, a U20 MNT fail, the U23s miss out on the Olympics, not to mention the U17 Men also unable to reach this year’s World Cup.
Is this a worrying trend for U.S. Soccer?
