#12 Panthers Tops YSU For Seventh-Straight Win

October 9, 2011

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Oct. 9, 2011) - Three different players scored as the No. 12 University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's soccer team topped Youngstown State 3-0 Sunday afternoon at Engelmann Stadium.

The Panthers (13-1, 5-0 Horizon) outshot the Penguins (3-8-2, 0-3-1 Horizon) 37-4 in rolling to their seventh-straight win.

"I thought we played well and it was a pretty dominant performance," UWM head coach Michael Moynihan said. "I thought the play was good and the passes were crisp. We scored some nice goals and I thought we could have had more."

Sarah Hagen and Krissy Dorre had a goal and assist apiece to pace the Milwaukee offense. Laurel Ragalie scored the game-winning goal and Keara Thompson assisted on a pair of goals in an all-around team effort.

Hagen and Thompson set up Ragalie's goal in the ninth minute. Hagen played a ball into the box that Thompson left off for Ragalie, who ran on to the ball and slotted it far post.

In the 27th minute, Kelsey Holbert played a long ball over the YSU defense that Thompson took to the endline. She then set a cross to the far post that Dorre calmly headed for her first collegiate goal.

Milwaukee had a secure 2-0 lead at halftime, dominating possession for the first 45 minutes. UWM outshot Youngstown 23-1 in the frame, taking six corner kicks and forcing the Penguins' keeper Nicole Kine to make 12 saves.

After halftime, it was much of the same, as the Panthers once again took it at YSU. Hagen got on the board in the 58th minute. Demi Price and Dorre combined on one-touch passes through the midfield to shoot Hagen free past the Penguin defense. Hagen then dribbled in on Kline and beat the keeper for her league-leading 16th goal of the season.

UWM finished with the aforementioned 37-4 shot advantage, including 20-2 in shots on goal. The Panthers also had a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Milwaukee defense played well and Jamie Forbes made both saves necessary for UWM to post a second-straight shutout and eighth of the season.

The Panthers return to action next weekend, traveling to Indianapolis, Ind., to take on Butler.
