Boston College Cruises Past Pittsburgh, 3-0
Sophomore McKenzie Meehan scored her team-leading sixth goal, her fourth game-winner this year, and junior Stephanie McCaffrey scored a goal and added an assist to lead Boston College to a 3-0 victory over Pittsburgh Thursday night in the first ACC game of the season.
BC is now 4-2 on the season and will travel to Clemson on Sunday, Sept. 15 for its second conference game. Pittsburgh is now 4-2-1.
Meehan started the scoring off just 1:09 into the game when she headed a cross from juniorCasey Morrison into the net. Morrison recorded her first assist of the season with a drive from 20 yards out that found Meehan on the far side of the net.
McCaffrey doubled the Eagles' lead in the 21st minute with a shot from the middle of the field that she buried into the lower left corner of the net. Morrison notched her second assist of the game on the goal.
BC concluded the scoring in the 59th when freshman Hayley Dowd scored her second goal of the season. McCaffrey assisted on the goal.
The Eagles held a 6-0 advantage in shots and had three corners to Pittsburgh's one.
