Bucknell Blanks Saints
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Jesse Klug and Josh Butzke each scored for Bucknell which shut out Siena Men’s Soccer 2-0 Sunday afternoon at Siena Turf Field. The loss snapped the Saints’ program record eight-match home win streak.
After scoring four goals in their season opener, the Saints (2-2) have been held to just one total goal over the past three matches. Siena put five of its eight shots on target, but Bucknell’s (4-2) Mike Lansing made five saves to post the clean sheet.
The Bison threaded the needle down the middle with Klug the beneficiary in the 21st minute. Butzke added an insurance tally early in the second half, volleying a deflection for a one-timer inside the near post.
Bucknell held a 12-8 advantage in shots while the Saints led in corners, 8-5. Freshman keeper Ryan Vyskocil made one save for the Saints in his home collegiate debut.
Siena looks to start a new home winning streak Wednesday when they conclude a season long three-match homestand vs. Saint Joseph’s at 4 p.m.
