Cyclones Earn 1-1 Draw With Pioneers
HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Centenary College and William Paterson played to a 1-1 draw in women's soccer action from Morrison Field at Hackettstown High School Wednesday night.
With the Cyclones trailing by one goal and less than one minute remaining in regulation, junior forward Laura Potter (Gilboa, N.Y./Gilboa-Conesville) lofted a shot over WP goalkeeper Mary Jane Seiler and into the back of the net for the game-tying score. Potter's goal was her first of the season.
Both squads recorded two shots on goal during the first 45 minutes, but went into halftime scoreless.
William Paterson got on the board during the 81st minute as Jackie Gage's crossing pass was collected by Alana Keffer amid a scramble in front and Keffer deposited her first score of the year.
Junior goalkeeper Nikki Gillis (Howell, N.J./Howell) made five stops in net, while Seiler blocked a pair of shots. The Pioneers attempted 12 of the match's 15 corner kicks.
Centenary travels to Moravian for a Saturday afternoon match beginning at 1:00 pm.
