Detroit Mercy Falls In Season Opener

August 17, 2018

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (8/17/2018) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's soccer went on the road to open the season, but Western Michigan scored an early goal and never let the Titan offense get going in a 3-0 contest on Friday.

Western Michigan got on the board just seven minutes into the game and added another in the 18th minute for a 2-0 lead at the break.

Senior Carly Fiorido had the only three shots of the game for the red, white and blue with two on goal, while senior Marina Manzo registered nine saves.

Detroit Mercy will return to action next Friday, Aug. 24, when it visits Eastern Michigan.
