FAU Women's Soccer Opens 2012 Season at Home

<p><strong>Boca Raton, Fla. - </strong>Florida Atlantic University&rsquo;s 2012-13 athletic calendar kicks off when the women&rsquo;s soccer team battles Jacksonville University on Friday, August 17, at 7 p.m. in the FAU Soccer Stadium, 777 Glades Road, on the Boca Raton campus.</p> <p>The Owls are coming off a scoreless draw in their lone preseason exhibition match, against Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) on Saturday, August 11. The team outshot FGCU by an 8-4 margin and had many scoring opportunities.</p> <p>&ldquo;Our freshmen really performed well against a quality opponent. We defended well and tested their goalkeeper on several occasions,&rdquo; said Brian Dooley, FAU&rsquo;s head women&rsquo;s soccer coach.&nbsp; &ldquo;I was pleased with the high-energy level the team demonstrated.&rdquo;</p> <p>FAU had a 6-3-1 home record last season.</p> <p>Junior forward Brittney Nash is the team&rsquo;s top returning offensive player, scoring four goals and ranking among the Sun Belt Conference&rsquo;s leaders with five assists.
