GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Milwaukee women's soccer team was in total command from start to finish, earning a 4-0 victory over Green Bay Wednesday night at Aldo Santaga Stadium.
 
The Panthers (9-1, 3-0 Horizon League) led the Phoenix (2-9, 0-3 Horizon League) by a pair at the half, putting the game away with two goals in less than a minute just after intermission to close the door and cruise to the win.
 
The first strike came at the 25:10 mark, with Jelena Sever netting her fourth of the campaign on an assist from Haley Johnson.
 
The advantage doubled through Mackenzie Schill, who scored unassisted off a deflection at the 40:33 mark, finding the back of the net for the third time this season.
 
Milwaukee then put the game away just minutes into the second half, and did it in a fashion that has almost become ordinary this season – a corner kick by Erin Corrigan.
 
Corrigan picked up her league-leading eighth assist of the season – and the seventh directly off a corner kick – when her attempt was finished at the far post by Rachel Phillpotts at the 48:12 mark.
 
Not done there, Milwaukee forced an own goal just 38 seconds later, making it 4-0 at the 48:50 mark. The goals actually go down as the sixth-fastest for least time in between goals by the Panthers (record is 28 seconds) all-time.
 
Plenty of players saw the field, as head coach Troy Fabiano used numerous substitutions throughout the second half. In all, 26 different players saw the field, including three different goalkeepers.
 
Stat-wise, MKE dominated, finishing with advantages of 14-to-4 in shots, 9-to-2 in shots on goal and 7-to-1 in corner kicks.
 
The shutout came from Elaina LaMacchia (72:55), followed by Olivia Davies (9:57) and Allie Strottman (7:08). Davies played the crucial role as the only one to record saves, making two stops to preserve the clean sheet.
 
McKaela Schmelzer led the offense with four shots, placing three on goal.
 
Up next, the Panthers welcome Wright State to Engelmann Stadium for a matinee affair Saturday. Game time is set for 2 p.m., part of a day/night doubleheader with the men's team.
