EDISON, New Jersey - Freshmen Cameron Harr and Simon Lund Jorgensen earned weekly awards from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference for their performances in the Marist men's soccer teams two wins last week. Harr was named Offensive Player of the Week and Jorgensen earned Rookie of the Week. Both earned their respective conference honors for the first time in their careers.
Harr netted three goals in Marist’s home wins over Canisius and Saint Peter’s, which brought the Red Foxes to 3-0 in MAAC play this season. Harr beat a defender on the right side to score the game-winner with 1:34 remaining in regulation against the Griffs on Sept. 30. He also put Marist on the board first in the contest. He converted on a penalty kick to seal a 2-0 victory over Saint Peter’s on Oct. 3. Harr registered six points and eight shots, including four on goal in the two games. In just 10 career games, he has scored a team-high seven goals on 14 shots on goal for the Red Foxes. He has also been named Rookie of the Week this season.
Jorgensen recorded the first two goals of his career on a pair of penalty kicks in the two games. His score against Saint Peter’s in the 87th minute broke a scoreless tie, while his goal against Canisius on Sept. 30 put the Red Foxes ahead, 2-1, with 11:08 remaining in the second half. Jorgensen finished the week with four points and four shots, including two on goal. He led a Marist defense that allowed just two goals in as many games.
The Red Foxes (5-5 overall) will put their flawless conference record to the test when they play a 3 p.m. match at Quinnipiac on Oct. 7.
