MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Alabama State University women's soccer team claimed a 6-1 non-conference victory over Presbyterian College Friday night at the ASU Soccer Complex, behind a hat trick from Lexi Kreiger.
 
"This week of training we emphasized on defense," Alabama State head coach Jodie Smith said. "We wanted to make sure we knew where we were supposed to be on the field. We talked about setting the tone early and I believe we did that. We want to build off of the success that we had tonight and take that into the next game."
 
Alabama State (2-4) controlled the game from the start with Lexi Krieger scoring the first goal of the night in the 24th minute of play.
 
Presbyterian (2-3) got their lone goal in the 64th minute of play by Francis Whitesides.
 
Stat of the Night
  • Lexi Krieger recorded her first hat trick of the season, recording a game-high four shots on goal.
  • Inma Martinez added two goals just three minutes apart, in the 24th and 27th minute of action.
  • The Lady Hornets scored season-high six goals in the victory.
  • Gianna Guyot recorded six saves in 90 minutes of action.
 
How It Happened
  • Lexi Krieger led her team offensively scoring the first of goal of the night with an assist from Teaggan Ilela.
  • Inma Martinez recorded her first goal of the match on a corner kick by Krieger. The third goal for the Lady Hornets came just three minutes later on an assist by McKenna Lupori.
  • Ariela Lewis and Krieger finished the night with the final three goals coming in the second half of action with assists by Kayla Tillman and Emily LaRue.
 
Up Next
  • Alabama State hit the road Monday to face Auburn in a non-conference match. Kick is set for 6 pm, and the game can be seen on the SEC Network.
