JMU lost two road games last week, falling 1-0 to Richmond on Sept. 7 and losing 4-1 at nationally-ranked Virginia on Sept. 9.  Both games were part of the Virginia Nike Classic.

Scouting Navy:  The Midshipmen bring a 7-1 record and a seven-game winning streak into the JMU game.  Navy's only loss was a 3-0 defeat to then nationally-ranked Maryland in its season-opening contest.  Navy has been picked to finished third behind Colgate and Army in the eight-team Patriot League.  Head coach Carin Gabarra, in her 19th season at Navy, was a member of the 1996 Olympic gold-medal winning U.S. National Team.

The Series with NavyJMU leads the series 3-0, including a 1-0 victory last season in Harrisonburg.

Scouting North Carolina Charlotte:  The 49ers take a 4-2-1 record and a three-game unbeaten streak (2-0-1) into a Sept. 13 home match against Davidson.   One of Charlotte's two losses was to nationally-ranked Wake Forest.  The 49ers were picked to finish sixth in the 16-team Atlantic 10 Conference, as voted by the league's coaches. 

The Series with North Carolina CharlotteJMU and Charlotte have met only once, and that was a 1-0 Dukes win at Charlotte in the first round of the 2002 NCAA Tournament.

Menzie, Sparks Named All-Tournament:  Midfielder Katie Menzie and defender Becky Sparks were named to the all-tournament team at the Virginia Nike Classic (Sept. 7 & 9).

Road Stretch Coming to An End:  JMU's Sept. 14 game at Navy wraps up a stretch of four straight road games for the Dukes.  JMU is winless in its first three games of the road schedule, losing 1-0 at Penn on Aug. 31 and dropping a 1-0 decision to Richmond and a 4-1 game to nationally-ranked Virginia in the Sept. 7 and 9 Virginia Nike Classic.
     After a Sept. 16 home game vs. Charlotte, the Dukes are back on the road at Old Dominion on Sept. 20 and at William and Mary on Sept. 23.

Four Opponents Projected for NCAA Field:  Four JMU opponents are projected to be among the 64 teams in the 2012 NCAA Tournament field, according to the website TopDrawerSoccer.com.  The weekly rankings are a running attempt to project the postseason NCAA Tournament qualifiers, including every automatic conference berth.
