NORTHRIDGE, Calif. -

After netting three goals and taking over the scoring lead in NCAA Division I, Cal State Northridge forward Sagi Lev-Ari was named the Big West Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon. Lev-Ari scored a goal against UC Santa Barbara, two against Cal Poly and added an assist to bring his nation-leading totals to 11 goals and 26 points through 13 matches.

The junior from Haifa, Israel, had a say in all four goals for the Matadors this weeked, starting with the opening goal against UC Santa Barbara on Friday night. In the 6th minute of play, he headed home a chipped pass from Juan Samayoa that beat the Gaucho goalkeeper. On Sunday night against Cal Poly, Lev-Ari continued his scoring ways and turned in his third multi-goal game of the season.

In the 23rd minute, he tied the score at one apiece by slamming home a cross from Edwin Rivas three yards from goal. In the 58th minute, he sprung a counterattack for CSUN that led to a goal for Beto Velasquez and finished the scoring seven minutes later with his second goal of the night.

With his three-goal weekend, Lev-Ari finds himself as the nation's top scorer going into this week's match at UC Riverside. His seven points this weekend also equal a mark he set earlier this season at the TLC Plumbing, Heating & Cooling Lobo Invitational when he had three goals and in assist in contests against Central Arkansas and then-No. 9 New Mexico.
