In their 2013 season finale, the Grand Canyon University men's soccer team (4-14-1, 2-8-0 WAC) dropped a 4-0 decision to San Diego State (6-10-2, 2-5-2 Pac-12) in a non-conference game at the SDSU Sports Deck in San Diego, Calif.

The Aztecs held the shot advantage, 25-8, as the SDSU defense limited the Antelopes to only four shots per half. The four scores were the most allowed by GCU this season.

"Tonight was just one of those games," said head coach Petar Draksin. "San Diego State is a great squad. Our team played their hearts out and I'm proud of them. It was a long season, and we learned a lot."

The two teams had combined for nine shots through the first 25 minutes before the Aztecs scored first when Kevin Bick found the back of the net in the 26^th minute. Bick split two GCU defenders for a straight shot from about 10 yards out for his third goal of the season.

SDSU outshot the 'Lopes, 9-4, in the first 45 minutes as they also collected the lone shot on goal in the half to maintain the 1-0 advantage at the break.

GCU threatened twice in the opening 15 minutes of the second half with shots on target from William O'Dwyer and Gerrit Thomes. However, the Aztecs extended their lead to 2-0 on Jordan Ongaro's team-leading 10^th goal of the season in the 61^st minute. Ongaro was set up from close range by Morgan Sacco, who picked up the assist.

"We had our share of good chances, but we couldn't get the ball in the back of the net," added Draksin. "We missed an opportunity on a goal kick, and they went down to their end and punished us. It pretty even in the second half until we lost the ball in the middle and they were able to score."

Nearly five minutes later, SDSU and Alec Petit made it a three goal advantage as Ongaro added an assist to his box score totals for the night. With just six seconds remaining in the game, the Aztecs scored once again, this time off the foot of Blake Wise. The 'Lopes were playing with just 10 men on the field after Ante Spajic was issued a red card (his second yellow card of the game) in the 81^st minute.

"The game got physical as the clock was winding down," Draksin explained. "At that point, we were behind and pushing hard. We got caught on both the third and fourth goals, but I don't believe that the score is indicative of how both teams played."

Thomes led the offensive effort for GCU with three shots. For the third straight game, 'Lopes goalkeeper Felipe Reyes matched his career-high with five saves.

"Now, we are just going to go back to work, and get ready for the spring season," said Draksin. "I felt that we got better as the season went on, and I am proud of this team."
