MAAC Men’s Soccer Preseason Poll Released

Following the postponement of the Fall 2020 MAAC sports seasons to the Spring, Siena Men's Soccer is set to take the field for a full slate of conference action next month. The Saints were picked to finish 11th in the 2021 MAAC Preseason Coaches Poll, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.

Ahead of the MAAC's 33rd men's soccer season, Saint Peter's took home the top spot in the poll as the Spring 2021 Preseason Favorite, receiving 112 total votes and six of 11 possible first place ballots. Quinnipiac trailed by a single vote, notching 111 tallies and the remaining five first place ballots. Marist received 92 votes, while defending MAAC champion Iona was selected fourth with 91 ballots.

Manhattan received 69 votes to land in fifth, while Fairfield and Rider tied for sixth with 67. Trailing behind were Monmouth (43), Niagara (33), Canisius (21), and finally the Saints, who took home 20 votes.

Saint Peters' senior forward Dominic Laws was named the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year, and selected to the Preseason All-MAAC team, which featured players from the Peacocks, Quinnipiac, Rider, Fairfield, Iona, and Marist.

Siena is scheduled to kick off the Graciano Brito era on Thursday, March 11, when the team heads to Lawrenceville, New Jersey to face Rider. The Saints are expected to return 14 players from last season while welcoming 12 newcomers.
