Marist Ties Non-Conference Contest vs. Brown
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist women's soccer team tied Brown, 1-1, in a non-conference matchup Oct. 13 at Tenney Stadium. The game marked the Red Foxes' third draw in the last four games and fourth overall this season.
Brown got on the board in the 21st minute when senior Chloe Cross netted her team-best sixth goal of the season from 10 yards out on a feed from classmate Annie Gillen. That would be the only goal freshman Makala Foley (Clifton Park, N.Y.) would allow in the contest.
The Red Foxes got the equalizer at the 85:06 mark when freshman Amanda Garrity (Massapequa, N.Y.) knocked in a blocked shot in front of the net for her first career goal.
Foley made a save in the first overtime, and neither side could find the net over the game's final 20 minutes.
Senior Amanda Epstein (Jericho, N.Y.) led Marist with three shots. Senior Jamie Strumwasser (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) led the stingy Red Foxes' defense and finished with two shots of her own. Playing in her third career game, Foley made five saves.
Marist will return to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play when it faces Quinnipiac at 3 p.m. Oct. 15.
