NEW ROCHELLE, NY - With four different goal scorers, the Iona College men's soccer team matched its highest point total of the season in a 4-1 victory over Canisius at Mazzella Field.  The squad increased its win streak to six games, improving to 4-0 in MAAC play and 11-1 overall.

Junior MF Ansger Otto got the ball rolling for the Gaels, scoring his team-leading fifth goal of the year in the 25th minute off a pass from Alexander Abdalla.  Iona's lead was increased to 2-0 just over three minutes later as sophomore F Samuel Adjei netted a shot from 25 yards out.

The Golden Griffins (3-8-1, 1-2-1 MAAC) cut the deficit in half midway through the second period.  Canisius's Sam Zarka was successful in slipping his 62nd minute penalty kick past Gael goalkeeper Borja Barbero.

Ahead 2-1, Iona added a final pair of tallies late in the contest on which sophomore MF Franklin Castellanos earned his ninth and tenth assists of the season.  Junior MF Michael Hodgen recorded his first goal of 2011 on a header following a corner kick by Castellanos, and freshman F Ignacio Maganto capped off the scoring with a goal in the 86th minute.

Barbero totaled four saves to earn the win.  For Canisius, goalie Ryan Arvin made one save in the first half.  Kareem Gray came on to play the second half, making two saves.

Iona continues its conference slate with a pair of road games, playing at Marist on Oct. 14 and Siena on Oct. 16.
