Men's Soccer Set For Home Match Against QU

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Marist men’s soccer team (5-3-3, 1-1-1 MAAC) will host a Metro Athletic Atlantic Conference match against Quinnipiac (5-4-2, 2-0-1 MAAC) Wednesday night at 7 p.m. The Red Foxes fell to MAAC newcomer, Quinnipiac last year 1-0 on the road and will be looking to even the score this time around playing on their home pitch. Both teams will look to build off their strong start to the season in this important MAAC showdown.

Previous Outing

The Red Foxes picked up their first loss in the MAAC this season, falling to conference opponent Iona 2-0.  Senior defenseman MJ Stellwag (Newburgh, N.Y.) had five shots in the game while freshman midfielder Erik Dahl (Helsingborgs, Sweden) had four shots, including two on goal.  The Red Foxes outshot the Gaels 14-11.

Red Fox To Watch

Sophomore midfielder Mario Vukadinovic (Konstanz, Germany) has had a strong start thus far for the Red Foxes.  In nine games played Vukadinovic has tallied two goals, one of them a game winning goal, and is also tied for the team lead with two assists.

Scouting The Bobcats

In the Bobcats' third MAAC matchup of the year, Quinnipiac defeated Rider 2-1 on Oct. 11. Senior forward Machel Baker scored both goals for the Bobcats in the win.  In three MAAC games played, Baker leads the conference with four goals and eight points. 

A Look Ahead

The Red Foxes will continue MAAC play when they travel to St. Peter’s (2-9-0, 0-3-0 MAAC) on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 2 p.m.
