Garden City, N.Y. – The men's soccer team hosted the Chargers of New Haven in a Northeast-10 Conference contest earlier this evening on Motamed Field. Contributions from four players enabled the Panthers to come away with a 3-0 win from two goals in the first and one in the second. The victory puts the Brown and Gold's record 8-4, 7-3 NE-10 while the Chargers drop to 1-10-1, 1-7 NE-10.
 
The first half was dominated offensively by the Adelphi's offense. Of their 12 shots, they put half of them on net and were successful in getting two of them passed James Pyatsky. The first came in the 24^th minute when Diego Zuniga managed to create just enough room down the left side and lofted a pass into the air where a wide open Alejandro Penzini was waiting. Without any pressure, Penzini headed the ball into the right side of the net for his seventh goal of the year while giving Adelphi the 1-0 lead in the process.
 
The second came in the 35^th minute when captain Nicholas Costa gained control of the ball in the midfield and then saw Zuniga streaking down the left side. His pass led him deep enough into Charger territory and behind their defense where he unleashed a shot from five yards for the second goal of the game.
 
Adelphi's defense was equally as impressive in the first, holding the Chargers to just three shots while keeper Sergio Reyes stopped two shots that went his way to keep the visitors at bay.
 
The Brown and Gold wasted no time tacking on yet another insurance goal less than seven minutes into the second frame. Penzini once again was involved with the play, this time, setting up teammate Caelan Hueber. The freshman forward from Cincinnati, Ohio beat a blue jersey defender which resulted in his fifth goal of the season and the third of the game.
 
Statistically, the Panthers held the upper hand, outshooting the New Haven team by a 19-9 margin and held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks. In goal, Sergio Reyes played the full 90 minutes and made three stops on the evening.

This marks the Panther's fifth straight shutout victory. Over this stretch, they have outscored opponents by a margin of 12-1.
 
Coach's Thoughts on the Game
"We received contributions from four different guys tonight which shows that we have depth and that our goals can come from anyone," stated Head Coach Carlo Acquista of his offense. "On the defensive end, I thought we did a great job of minimizing New Haven's chances. Sergio Reyes stepped up due to Ahmad being injured and did an excellent job tonight in net. We're very fortunate to have two very capable keepers on our roster."
