MLS Academy alumni roundup: Oct. 22

As the Division I soccer season rolls right along, scores of MLS Academy alumni around the country.

While the best of the best from pro academies are all electing to turn pro, plenty out there are still playing college soccer.

Below is a team-by-team look at how MLS Academy alumni fared over the past week at the Division I level.

Chicago Fire

Senior D Patrick Doody started and played 90 minutes in Indiana’s 2-1 loss against Maryland on Oct. 19.

Junior M Manny Chavez started, played 90 minutes and had an assist in UIC’s 3-0 win against Wisconsin-Green Bay on Oct. 15. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 2-1 loss against Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Oct. 19. He also started and played 77 minutes in a 3-2 loss against Loyola-Chicago on Oct. 21.

Freshman M Alex Underwood came off the bench and played 28 minutes in Denver’s 3-0 loss against South Florida on Oct. 15. He also came off the bench, played 27 minutes and had an assist in a 2-0 win against IPFW(m) on Oct. 18.

Freshman D Grant Lillard started and played 86 minutes in Indiana’s 2-1 loss against Maryland on Oct. 19.

Junior M Drew Conner started and played 110 minutes in Wisconsin’s 1-1 draw against Loyola-Chicago on Oct. 15. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 2-0 loss against Ohio State on Oct. 19.

Junior F Andrew Oliver started and played 74 minutes in Indiana’s 2-1 loss against Maryland on Oct. 19.

Senior F Tyler Engel started and played 66 minutes in North Carolina’s 1-0 win against NC State on Oct. 17.

Junior F Joey Calistri started and played 58 minutes in Northwestern’s 2-0 win against Rutgers on Oct. 18.

Sophomore M Marcus Epps started and played 74 minutes in South Florida’s 3-0 win against Denver on Oct. 15. He also started, played 89 minutes and scored two goals in a 2-2 draw against SMU on Oct. 18.

Freshman F Jeffrey Farina came off the bench, played 67 minutes and had two assists in Notre Dame’s 4-1 win against Duke on Oct. 17.

Freshman M Anthony Jeffries started and played 59 minutes in SMU’s 7-0 win against Central Arkansas on Oct. 15. He also started and played 94 minutes in a 2-2 draw against South Florida on Oct. 18.

Senior GK Charlie Lyon started, played 90 minutes and made one save in Marquette’s 1-0 loss against Butler on Oct. 15. He also started, played 110 minutes and made three saves in a 1-1 draw against Villanova on Oct. 18.

Senior M Brady Wahl started and played 90 minutes in Marquette’s 1-0 loss against Butler on Oct. 15. He also started and played 110 minutes in a 1-1 draw against Villanova on Oct. 18.

Sophomore M Louis Bennett started and played 90 minutes in Marquette’s 1-0 loss against Butler on Oct. 15. He also started, played 110 minutes and scored a goal in a 1-1 draw against Villanova on Oct. 18.

Freshman M Hayden Cochran started and played 68 minuets in Memphis’s 3-0 win against Oral Roberts on Oct. 15. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 2-0 loss against Tulsa on Oct. 17.

Sophomore M Romario Lomeli came off the bench, played 75 minutes and scored a goal in UC Riverside’s 2-1 loss against Cal State Northridge(m) on Oct. 18.

Sophomore GK Jake McGuire started, played 90 minutes and made three saves in Tulsa’s 2-0 win against Memphis on Oct. 17.

Sophomore M Mario Ortiz started and played 59 minutes in UC Irvine’s 1-0 win against Cal State Fullerton on Oct. 18.

Junior M Eric Gonzalez started and played 90 minutes in UC Riverside’s 2-1 loss against Cal State Northridge(m) on Oct. 18.

Junior F Idrissa Camara started, played 55 minutes and scored a goal in SMU’s 7-0 win against Central Arkansas on Oct. 15. He also started, played 104 minutes and scored a goal in a 2-2 draw against South Florida on Oct. 18.

Junior M Karsten Hanlin started and played 38 minutes in Denver’s 3-0 loss against South Florida on Oct. 15. He also came off the bench and played 76 minutes in a 2-0 win against IPFW(m) on Oct. 18.
